Abstract:
As the field of Service Learning research emerges so does the methodological and theoretical approaches to understanding student, faculty and community partner experiences within those fields (Singleton, 2004). This study adopts a grounded theory approach to examining qualitative data collected over two years from a Senior Communication Capstone Course, Environmental Advocacy: Bridging the Divides where the seniors in a Capstone course had the opportunity to engage first year students in their environmental sustainability project, namely the adoption of a timber sale slated for cutting by the US Forest Service in Mt. Hood National Forest in Oregon.
