Abstract:Assimilation research continues to interest communication scholars. Despite numerous assimilation and socialization studies many connections of assimilation research with other related constructs remain to be made. The present study made some of these connections by examining the extent to which leader-member exchange and person-organization fit are related to organizational assimilation. Results based on a sample of 188 newly-hired employees indicated leader-member exchange and P-O fit were positively related to new employee assimilation.
