If you see young, hungry- looking, armed and ready attendees coming up to you in duos the next three days, don't run, don't hide, it's the NCA Press Team and we just want to interview you! That has been our game plan of the day. Sneaking into early bird, pre-conference sessions and getting people' s stories on what brought them to NCA, their research, their unique passions in the great field of communication.
In that endeavor, we were not too shy about employing all means possible to land the big stories of the day, i.e. casually hanging around the only entrance to the Early Bird Reception, asking our Emerson professors to innocently introduce us to their fellow scholars, and offering to punch somebody's floor number in the elevator in exchange for an interview....
But I have to admit, the perk of being at a Communication conference is that your job is instantly made easier...after all, these are people that are experts in communication, so the only thing we have to do is break the ice and hit 'record'.
