Third Person Effect Concerning the Virginia Shooting Incidence in April of 2007

Abstract:The current study relied on the third person effect (TPE) and examined whether Korean Americans, Koreans in the US, and Koreans in Korea perceived greater media influence on other Koreans in Korea than on themselves in relation with Virginia Tech. University shooting incidence. Also, the current study focused on social distance and perceived similarity as explanations for TPE. Results found strong support for TPE and that social distance was supported as an explanation for TPE.
