About Us
This project could not have been undertaken without the gracious support of a number of constituents. The Department gratefully acknowledges the enthusiasm and financial support of Vice-President Betsy Bach as we worked toward developing this initiative. NCA’s Executive Committee's endorsement is also valued. In addition, Dean Janis Andersen of Emerson College is thanked for her unwavering support and creativity in putting ideas to print. Finally, Dr. Gregory Payne, Mr. Jonathan ("Satch") Satriale, and the talented Emerson College students are to be commended for their planning, indulgence, and overall espirit de corps. Look for these extraordinary young people throughout the convention and we'd appreciate your support as they embark upon archiving the 94th annual NCA convention.

Professor & Chair
Department of Communication Studies
Thank you colleagues and friends for co-creating a true win/win! Emerson College
is in a unique position within the field of communication and we are delighted
to share our talents to enhance our discipline. As a college devoted
exclusively to “Innovation in Communication and the Arts” we position our
discipline differently within the higher education context. Our students
are unusually passionate in their communication interests and they have the
tools and toys to develop expertise within the new media formats. They
come to Emerson College to gain communication expertise
and they relish the opportunity to put their skills to practical use.
We believe that their work at NCA will not only provide them with a wonderful field
experience but will contribute to their intellectual growth in countless
ways. It is certainly a win for us and our students. We hope that their efforts in creating information archives and in putting the messages of
the communication discipline out to the public in new media forums will advance
our collective mission.
There is so
much to take away from the recent historic election but one thing that it
taught us is the power of information when coupled with effective communication
to drive social change. Our discipline has so much to contribute – we
know that. I hope you will find that these efforts to “produce”
communication content contribute to increasing the reach of the Communication
discipline to power social change. I hope you enjoy the project and
its products.
